Erica M. Cipparone - Associate

Erica M. Cipparone is a registered patent attorney licensed to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Erica provides representation in areas of intellectual property including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and related litigation.

While Erica specializes in patent preparation and prosecution, and trademark preparation and prosecution, Erica’s practice also includes patent, copyright and trademark litigation, copyright and trade secret transactional matters, cases before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (“TTAB”) and domain name dispute resolution proceedings (ICANN) in front of the National Arbitration Forum. Erica concentrates her patent practice in the technical areas of biomedicine, medical devices, and pharmaceuticals.

Erica’s trademark practice includes prosecuting trademark applications before the United States Patent and Trademark Office, conducting availability searches, and handling opposition and cancellation proceedings in front of the TTAB. She enjoys counseling business owners on the best ways to protect their intellectual property.

Erica’s litigation experience includes trademark infringement, misappropriation of trade secrets, unfair competition, unfair trade practices, tortious interference, and breach of contract and related matters.

Erica completed her capstone defense and graduated with a Masters’ in Biomedical Science Degree in December of 2016. Her capstone defense centered around cancer treatment therapies, and specifically, her research focused on immunotherapy as a chemotherapy and radiation alternative. In particular, her research included immune checkpoint inhibitors, cancer-based vaccines, and cytokines as immunotherapy-based treatment methods for cancer therapy.

Prior to joining Beusse Wolter Sanks & Maire, PLLC, Erica attended Barry University School of Law with a focus on patent law and other intellectual property matters where she received a book award in Patents. Before attending law school, Erica worked as a Certified Pharmacy Technician for several years in outpatient and inpatient hospital pharmacies as well as compounding and retail pharmacies throughout both Central Florida and Utah. Erica is well versed in the Spanish language.
